Well, spring has definitely turned to summer here in Milton Keynes … which means it’s time for the latest round up of what’s been happening across the project!

  • The OER World Map project continues to make progress, with v0.2 scheduled for release early in July.  Rob attended a project meeting in Cologne, Germany last week and has been appointed UK country champion for the project.  You can get involved with the project by sharing your OER story.
  • We have had several meetings around the migration of the Graduate OER Global Network (GO-GN) to The Open University (UK) including a Google Hangout last week. If you are doing your PhD research on OER or open education and would like to join the community, have a look at the sign up page on the GO-GN site. You can also follow us on Twitter: @GOGN_OER.
  • Researcher Beck Pitt was in British Columbia, Canada at the end of May to participate in the Open Textbook Summit where she presented the latest research with OpenStax College educators in Exploring the Impact of Open Textbooks Around the World. In addition Beck also visited Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops where she presented an overview of OER Hub research to date. A big thanks to Brian Lamb, Irwin DeVries, Clint Lalonde and colleagues at BCcampus and TRU for being so welcoming.
  • Bea and Beck have been pushing forward the Opening Educational Practices in Scotland (OEPS) research strand. Some interesting case study work is coming your way: Glasgow Caledonian OER Policy, and Caring Counts (read more about the recent launch of Caring Counts in the Workplace here). In addition, we’re developing an open course on creating ‘good’ OER and OEP, a map and conducting workshop across Scotland. Find out more about what we’re up to here.
  • Beck and Bea also co-presented the latest findings from the Hub at this year’s CALRG conference here at The Open University (UK) in Milton Keynes on 16 June.
