We are always looking for partners and projects to work with. We use agile ways of working and strive to be flexible in how we work with collaborators to meet their needs. This means there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to working with us and the best way to proceed is usually to get in touch and go from there.

We have expertise in the following areas:

  • Managing the research process
  • Mixed methods research into the impact of open educational resources
  • MOOC research
  • Attitudinal research
  • Copyright, open licensing, and open access
  • Strategies for adoption of OER and open practices
  • Understanding different forms of open: education, data, society, government
  • Policy analysis
  • Data visualization and mapping
  • Use of social media, blogging and open practice for public engagement
  • Maximising the impact of research outputs through social media
  • Distributed team working practices
  • Best practice in creation of open resources and courses

In any of these areas we can offer the following services:

  • Conducting quantitative research, for example comparing performance across cohorts
  • Constructing, distributing and analysing surveys
  • Conducting qualitative research, for example interviews, case studies, focus groups
  • Running workshops, for example for research teams or staff development in open research
  • Report writing and desktop research
  • Agile research project management
  • Evaluation of project impact and outcomes

We appreciate that advocates of open education often don’t have a large research budget and can tailor our work accordingly to make effective use of our time (e.g. carrying out research design and evaluation of results but not data collection).
